ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The key suspect in a telegraphic transfer (TT) case involving PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, Ali Ahmed Malik, was detained by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday.

According to NAB authorities, Ali Ahmed was apprehended in Islamabad.

It’s worth noting that Ali Ahmed is a key suspect in the TT case against the National Assembly’s opposition leader. For the past two years, the suspect has been on the run. During Shehbaz Sharif’s term, Ali Ahmed stayed as director of strategy at the Punjab Chief Minister’s House.

According to the sources, the arrest was conducted in front of a luxury hotel by the NAB Lahore. Tomorrow, the accused suspect will appear in accountability court for a transit remand. Ali Ahmed will be sent to NAB Lahore for investigation after his transit remand.

In September of this year, it was reported that the NAB had taken custody of a money changer who used to transmit TTs in the Sharif family’s name from abroad.

While refuting claims that the NAB is looking into charges involving Shehbaz Sharif and Suleiman Shehbaz and their London accounts, sources claimed they were looking into Rs 200 billion in TT transfers to Sharif family members. According to them, the money changer who facilitated the TTs for the Sharif family has been arrested.
