WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) – President Joe Biden’s first White House Christmas is themed “Gifts from the Heart.”

On Monday, First Lady Jill Biden was set to reveal decorations that matched the theme, which were believed to be inspired by people the pair met while travelling around the country this year.

In a commemorative 2021 White House holiday guidebook, the Bidens write, “The things we hold sacred unite us and transcend distance, time, and even the constraints of a pandemic: faith, family, and friendship; a love of the arts, learning, and nature; gratitude, service, and community; unity and peace.” “These are the gifts that bind our hearts together. These are heartfelt offerings.”

More than 100 volunteers decorated the executive home — including the Oval Office — with 41 Christmas trees, 6,000 feet (2,000 yards) of ribbon, and more than 10,000 ornaments during the Bidens’ Thanksgiving week in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
