LAHORE – Punjab Inspector-General Rao Sardar Ali Khan said on Saturday that 118 persons, including 13 major suspects, had been detained for the murder and burning of a Sri Lankan national.


Hassan Khawar, IG Punjab and provincial government spokesman, informed the media on the investigations into the Sialkot incident during a news conference in Lahore.


According to the IG, police have raided over 200 districts in the city in the previous 24 hours, arresting around 120 guys.


The police have received CCTV evidence of the incident from 160 cameras installed at the location, according to a Punjab official.


He stated that the victim’s post-mortem has been completed, and that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar are personally monitoring the investigations.

IG Rao described the chain of events that led to the incident, saying that the Sialkot DPO arrived 17 minutes after the first allegation.
