BAGHDAD (AFP) – Six rockets were launched at the airport in Baghdad on Friday, causing damage but no injuries, according to security sources, the latest in a succession of strikes blamed on Iran-linked militias by the US.

According to one of the sources, the missiles impacted the runways or parking areas of Baghdad International Airport.

“One civilian jet was attacked and damaged,” stated this source from the interior ministry.

A second security source stated that six rockets were fired around civil infrastructure at the airport, damaging an aircraft that was parked.

According to a third source, the jet is a Boeing 767 belonging to Iraqi Airways, which is currently out of service and undergoing maintenance.

The attackers did not immediately claim responsibility for the incident.
