ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – During Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Beijing, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on CPEC Affairs Khalid Mansoor stated that China assured him of the high quality and rapid development of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He told a press conference in Islamabad on Monday that the leadership of Chinese enterprises appreciated the atmosphere and facilities offered by Pakistan to Chinese investors during discussions with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to Khalid Mansoor, Prime Minister Imran Khan held twenty back-to-back meetings in Beijing during which Chinese companies expressed interest in investing in various sectors such as industries, agriculture, information technology, infrastructure, housing and construction, mining, and oil refinery.

The Special Assistant stated that it would now be our job to provide their interest a realistic shape in the least amount of time.

According to the Special Assistant, a consortium of three Chinese businesses has filed a proposal to develop a low carbon recycling facility in Gwadar with an estimated investment of $4.55 billion. He stated that the high-value metals will be processed and exported from the park. This will result in the creation of 40,000 new work opportunities.

According to the Special Assistant, China would build a centre for farmer training in agricultural mechanisation.

According to Khalid Mansoor, one Chinese business has formed a joint venture with Fauji Fertilizer Company to produce soybeans and corn. He stated that a Chinese company, Royal Group, has made a plan to develop four large-scale buffalo farms in Pakistan, where milk would be processed and value-added goods will be prepared.

According to the Special Assistant, a large Chinese firm has also agreed to create a textile cluster on 100 acres of land.

According to Khalid Mansoor, China has also confirmed its commitment to the development of the Karachi Coastal Comprehensive Development Zone, which would cost 3.5 billion dollars.

He also stated that China intends to invest $500 million in establishing an LNG storage facility at the Karachi port.

He also stated that China will begin domestic production and assembly of mobile phones in the Science and Technology zone.

The Special Assistant was optimistic that the country would now move toward industrialisation, which would boost the economy and give work possibilities for the youth.
