KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A series of cyberattacks took the websites of the Ukrainian army, defence ministry, and key banks down on Tuesday, according to Ukrainian officials, as emotions remained high over the potential of a Russian invasion.

Nonetheless, there was no indication that the relatively low-level distributed-denial-of-service assaults were a front for more significant and damaging cyber misbehaviour.

At least ten Ukrainian websites were rendered inaccessible as a result of the assaults, including those of the military, foreign, and cultural ministries, as well as Ukraine’s two major state banks. Websites are bombarded with a deluge of garbage data packets in such attacks, leaving them unavailable.
