Reuters reports that Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) of the United States said it was investigating a suspected cyberattack after a news report indicated the attack may have put portions of its company offline for two days.
The Telegraph reported earlier on Friday that a hostile network attack caused interruptions in Nvidia’s email systems and developer tools during the previous two days, although it remained unclear whether any data was taken or erased.
“We’re looking into an event. Our commercial and business operations continue unabated “Nvidia made the announcement in a statement.
“At this point, we don’t have any more information to give because we are still evaluating the nature and breadth of the occurrence.”
In late-afternoon trading, the company’s stock lost 0.7 percent of its gains.
Nvidia is the most valuable chipmaker in the United States, with a market capitalization of about $600 billion. It’s recognised for its graphics processing units (GPUs), which improve videogame and advanced computer simulation experiences.
