Local sources acknowledged that Russian soldiers had conquered the Ukrainian city of Kherson, the first major metropolitan centre to fall since Moscow invaded a week ago.
“The (Russian) occupants are in every corner of the city and are extremely hazardous,” Gennady Lakhuta, the regional administration’s chief, posted late Wednesday on Telegram.

“We didn’t have any firearms and weren’t really aggressive. We demonstrated that we are striving to safeguard the city and address the invasion’s effects “In a Facebook post, he said.
