MOHALI (AFP) – On Friday, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat against Sri Lanka in the 100th Test for superstar player Virat Kohli.
Officials praised Kohli, 33, before the commencement of the two-match series at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.
Coach Rahul Dravid gave Kohli with an unique cap while flanked by the Indian squad and his Bollywood wife Anushka Sharma stood alongside him.
The 34-year-old Rohit, who took over as captain across all formats from Kohli last month, leads the side in his debut Test as captain.
