Since the end of November, more than 13 million poultry birds have been slaughtered in France, according to a Reuters official, as France’s biggest bird-flu catastrophe has grown swiftly.

France has seen a remarkable increase in outbreaks of the extremely infectious virus, which is thought to have been brought in by migratory wild birds. Cullings have increased since the virus spread to the major poultry-producing areas of France.
