On Friday, Pakistan summoned Afghanistan’s charge d’affaires to protest the unlawful artillery shelling of Pakistani military sites in Chitral on April 14.

Unprovoked artillery fire on Pakistani military bases in Chitral lasted 4-6 hours, with 35 artillery rounds fired from Afghan territory. Pakistan’s military forces reacted effectively to Afghan aggression, and the bombing stopped.

Pakistan has also objected to the use of Afghan territory for terrorist activities within Pakistan. The Afghan administration was also informed that the Pak-Afghan border area should be guarded and border communication should be strengthened.
