ATHENS – A strong 5-magnitude earthquake struck Greece off the island of Kythera on Saturday, according to the National Observatory of Athens.

At a depth of 67 kilometres, the epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 8 p.m. local time, was 46 kilometres (28 miles) west, southwest of the island that is opposite the southeastern point of the Peloponnese peninsula.

There were no reports of casualties or property damage.

Greece is prone to tremors due to its location on multiple geological faultlines.
