Russia claimed on Wednesday that it has successfully tested its Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, a new addition to its nuclear arsenal that President Vladimir Putin vowed would give Moscow’s adversaries pause.
Putin was shown on television being informed by the military that the missile was launched from Plesetsk in the country’s northwest and targeted targets on the Kamchatka peninsula in the far east.
“The new complex possesses the greatest tactical and technological features and is capable of defeating any contemporary anti-missile defence systems.” It has no counterparts in the world and will not for a long time,” Putin stated.
