The Ukrainian military announced Tuesday that Russian forces have began an onslaught on the beleaguered Azovstal steel complex in Mariupol, where Kyiv’s soldiers are holed up.
“A massive attack on the grounds of the Azovstal facility is begun, backed up by armoured vehicles and tanks,” said Sviatoslav Palamar, deputy commander of Ukraine’s Azov military unit, in a social media message.
He further stated that Russian forces are aiming to “land a big number of men via boat.”
