According to palace sources, Queen Elizabeth II will miss the customary royal garden party season, when she would ordinarily meet with hundreds of people on the grounds of her residences in London and Edinburgh.

Buckingham Palace stated in a statement that the 96-year-old monarch will be represented by other members of her family.

The queen used to welcome around 30,000 visitors to the gardens of Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh each year before the pandemic. At the gatherings, the guests, who have all given back to their communities in various ways, had the opportunity to talk with the queen and other members of the royal family.
