The US Congress is set to approve a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine on Thursday, the latest manifestation of President Joe Biden’s pledge of continuous support for Kyiv as it battles Russia.

The money’s passage is an extraordinarily bipartisan act in a bitterly divided Washington.

“Aid for Ukraine goes way beyond charity,” said Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Minority Leader.

“The outcome of this fight will influence the future of American security and vital strategic interests,” he continued, hours before the House of Representatives was poised to comfortably pass the bill.
