President Ebrahim Raisi threatened on Monday that Iran would avenge the killing of a Revolutionary Guards colonel in Tehran.

Assailants on motorcycles fired five rounds at Colonel Sayyad Khodai as he sat in his car outside his residence on Sunday.

Iran attributed the attack to “groups related to global arrogance,” the Islamic republic’s moniker for the United States and its allies, including Israel.
