The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was granted protective bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday in the Al-Qadir Trust case hours after he threatened to cause nationwide unrest if he were to be detained once more.

The two-person special division bench, made up of Justices Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Saman Rafat Imtiaz, awarded the former prime minister, who was taken into custody on Tuesday from the IHC grounds, a 15-day protection bail.

A day after the Supreme Court deemed Khan’s detention in the Al-Qadir Trust case “illegal,” the IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq created the special division bench to consider the former prime minister’s bail request.
