The Grammys include new categories, such as those for pop dance recordings and performances of African music.

At the Grammys, further change is in the works. The best pop dance recording, the best African music performance, and the best alternative jazz album will all be new categories for the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony, according to a Tuesday announcement by the Recording Academy.

Additionally, two already-existing categories—producer of the year, non-classical, and songwriter of the year, non-classical—which were only launched this year—have been transferred to the general field so that all Grammy voters may participate in choosing the winners.

Previously, the “Big Four” awards—best new artist, album, record, and song of the year—were the only ones included in the general categories.
