On Tuesday, Romanian prosecutors brought social media celebrity Andrew Tate, his brother Tristan, and two other accused to trial on allegations of rape, human trafficking, and organising a group to defraud women of their sex.
The Tate brothers and two suspects from Romania are being held under house arrest while a criminal investigation into allegations of abuse against seven women is ongoing.
The brothers, former kickboxers with British and American citizenship, are the most well-known accused being tried in Romania for human trafficking.
Tate has millions of internet followers, the most of them are young guys, who support his advocacy of an opulent, ultra-masculine lifestyle. His critics charge him with misogyny.
